After two Eastern European corpses are washed ashore on a raft in Ystad, Wallander travels to Latvia on the hunt for the killers. Thrown into a cold, alien world of police surveillance and lies, Wallander soon finds himself entangled in a web of corruption with no-one to trust.
Two tortured corpses are washed ashore on a raft in Ystad. When the dead men are identified as Eastern European criminals a Rigan police detective, Karlis Liepa, joins Wallander and his team to help investigate. However, when Karlis is murdered in an equally brutal fashion on his return to Riga, Wallander feels it’s his duty to investigate further so travels across the Baltic Sea to Latvia. Thrown into a cold, alien world of police surveillance and lies, Wallander struggles to judge which of Karlis’ colleagues he can trust: are any of their hands entirely clean?
Wallander finds himself turning to his only ally: Karlis’ widow, Baiba, as they join forces to locate Karlis’ missing case notes. Entangled in a web of corruption with no one to trust but each other, The Dogs of Riga is a paranoid thriller where Wallander is always one step behind of the shadowy figures that hunt him.
The Dogs of Riga is the second episode in the third season of the BBC Wallander series.
